Other recent South India hits like Little Hearts, Lokah and Kishkindhapuri slowed down after having good run. Bollywood biggie Jolly LLB3 started off on a strong note in the first weekend.
After a sensational first weekend, Teja starrer Mirai continued its impressive run in the second weekend. The film has notched up close to $ 2.75 Million by the end of Sunday. Teja has achieved a rare feat in Overseas by scoring back-to-back $ 2.5 films after Prabhas and NTR. The film is likely to touch the $ 3 Million mark in its full run and turn out to be huge blockbuster in North America.
Sleeper hit ‘Little Hearts’ also achieved a remarkable feat in this weekend by joining the prestigious $ 1 Million club. For a small film, the ambitious milestone is a huge victory. The total gross now stands at $ 1.05 Million.
Malayalam blockbuster Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, which is the now the highest grossing film of Mollywood, continues to mint decent revenues despite releasing three weeks ago. By the end of the fourth weekend, the film notched up $ 2.1 million gross in North America.
Another recent hit film from Tollywood, Kishkindhapuri surpassed the $ 300k mark and ensured that all buyers secure decent profits despite facing competition from Mirai and Little Hearts.
Akshay Kumar’s third installment in hit franchise Jolly LLB took a promising start with $ 750K in the first weekend. As Bollywood films depend entirely on word of mouth and target long run in USA, Jolly LLB3 will need a consistent run in the coming days to emerge as a profitable venture.
Trade circles are now eagerly waiting for the release of much anticipated gangster drama OG starring Pawan Kalyan in the lead role. The advance sales are close to $ 2.5 Million and the film is likely to shatter numerous records with its premieres. This will be followed by another pan-India biggie Kantara Chapter 1 on October 2nd.
