Seasoned actor Akkineni Nagarjuna has been carrying the legacy of his father and legendary thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao forward both as an actor and a producer. On the eve of Nageswara Rao’s 101 birth anniversary, Nagarjuna opened up about the idea of bringing a biopic on his late father who played an instrumental role in bringing Telugu industry from Madras during the 80s. He shared his views in a recent media interaction with a leading Telugu daily.
Nagarjuna evinced interest to retell the glorious moments in the life of Akkineni Nageswara Rao through a biopic. Nag revealed that he has been contemplating about ANR’s biopic since many days and holding discussions about the script and other details about this memorable film. He added that more clarification on this ambitious attempt will be revealed once he finds suitable writer and director to pen the script.
Akkineni Nageswara Rao is one of the stalwart actors of Telugu cinema like NTR. A few years ago, Nandamuri Balakrishna depicted the life of NTR on the big screen in two parts. Since then, there has been anticipation about a biopic on ANR from Akkineni fans. However, Nagarjuna did not show much interest till now. It seems like he has changed his mind and eager to do a biopic on his father.
It would be interesting to see who will play the lead role if at all ANR’s biopic materialises in the coming days. At present, Nagarjuna’s songs Naga Chaitanya and Akhil are representing the Akkineni family along with their father.
